Tall Roman Pink Porphyry Stone Column / Pedestal

[ translate ]

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A stunning reminder of Roman architecture: a stone column or pedestal made from a beautiful pink porphyry stone in the Tuscan style. The column rests on a simple base, the shaft is polished smooth free of fluting to let the gorgeous natural stone patterns and hues take center stage. The hues include deep reds, pink, white, beige, and gray. Interestingly, the broken top reveals the metal support rod through the center. An impressive ancient Roman architectural element! Size: 5.375" W x 25.25" H (13.7 cm x 64.1 cm); 31.75" H (80.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, 1980s to 2000s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
