Theodore Roosevelt Autograph Letter Signed Acknowledging Patriotism, Ex-Nicholson Collection

Autograph Letter Signed on card stock, 4.5" x 3.5" with Sagamore Hill letterhead. Dated "July 12, 1916" and signed by Theodore Roosevelt, "Theodore Roosevelt". Expected toning else near fine. Ex-Nicholson Collection.

"Dear Mr. Jewett:

That's such a manly, patriotic letter of yours that I must send you this line of personal acknowledgement. The letter will be put on file, and you will be called if I am allowed to raise the division..."

This warm letter was a response from the period when Roosevelt applied for permission to raise a Division of Volunteers in World War I, and then went to the European front with it as its commanding officers but President Wilson and the War department rejected his plea.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
