Thérèse Lessore was firstly married to the artist Bernard Adeney, the vendor's great uncle. The girl painted on the bowl was the vendor's mother. Lessore (1884-1945) then became Walter Sickert`s third wife in 1926, her older sister Ada Louise Powell was a Wedgwood pottery designer.
