Tiffany & Co. Makers sterling silver Civil War Presentation five piece all-over acorn branch leaf pattern tea set. Branch form handles and spout decoration. Fish scale stippled ground, beaded borders. "Presented to Brig. General Egbert L. Viele. Military Governor at Norfolk Virginia, by the loyal citizens as a mark of their respect and esteem. July 4th 1863". Tiffany & Co. English sterling 550 Broadway N.Y. Brig. General Viele was a civil engineer and U.S. Representative from New York, 1885-87. An officer in the Union Army during the Civil War. Covered sugar bowl, finial slightly bent. Teapot cover slightly sprung. Covered creamer final very slightly bent. Coffee pot- 12" high, finial bent and pushed down. Hot water kettle- Where handle hinge and silver bracket from body that hinges with the handle is bent 1/4" to the side. Cover finial slightly bent. Beaded border burner unmarked. Total weight without burner- 174.5 oz.t
