Tiffany & Co. Meritorious Service Gold Medal

Crafted in 18K gold; gold plaque measures 2-1/16 inches by 2 inches, gold pin measures 1-3/4 inches by 1/4 inches; weight 114.60 g. Accompanied by original Tiffany & Co. fitted box. Engraving reads: "AMERICAN GAS ASSOCIATION. MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL. HENRY F. KETZ, SOUTHERN COUNTIES GAS COMPANY, SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA, 29 JUNE 1925". Mr. Ketz was a Southern Counties Gas Company engineer who received the medal for his prompt response after an earthquake struck Santa Barbara and he shut off the gas valve supplying the city, thus preventing disastrous fires that other cities had experienced following earthquakes.
Signed: TIFFANY & CO; Stamped: 18KT.GOLD
Condition Report: Wear is commensurate with age. Red ribbon is considerably frayed. Otherwise in very good condition.
