Tom Stade Watercolor Painting - Farm Scene, 1980s

[ translate ]

Thomas Stade (American, b. 1948). Untitled watercolor, ca. 1980s. A striking watercolor presenting a charming agricultural theme, featuring the lower end of a tractor or farm vehicle with several white sacks of grain below, all delineated in Tom Stade's quasi-photorealist style. The scene is very close to the picture plane, and Stade's composition dramatically zooms in, cutting off most of the vehicle, so that the true subject is the cluster of white sacks of grain - fruits of the farmer's labor. In addition, Stade used a soothing color palette and demonstrated a keen command of light effects in this painting. Size of painting: 28.875" W x 19.75" H (73.3 cm x 50.2 cm) Size of matte: 37.875" W x 27.875" H (96.2 cm x 70.8 cm)

Thomas Stade was raised in Gladstone, Michigan and earned his degree in illustration at the Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His work has earned several awards and he is avidly collected, particularly in the Grand Rapids area.
