Torah shield - Tass - .800 silver - Austria - Early 20th century

Torah scroll shield (Tass) : The custom is to hang the Torah shield on the Torah scroll when removing it from the ark in the synagogue. Handmade by a Jewish craftsman from Austria, made of silver 800 (tested) in the 1920s. Delicate stamping work: two lions guarding the tablets of the covenant and a Torah crown above them. At the bottom, there is a place for a small sign that says in Hebrew "Shabbat". The Tass is in excellent condition, it has a hanging chain at the back.
