Trianon Press.- Blake (William) William Blake's Water-Colour Designs for the Poems of Thomas Gray, Introduction by Geoffrey Keynes, 4 vol., letter C of 18 hors commerce copies, this one of the grand luxe copies with an additional portfolio of technical material, from an edition limited to 518, collotype plates hand-coloured through stencil, leather book-label of Haven O'More, original tan morocco, gilt, spines titled in gilt, brown silk moiré endpapers, uncut, together in original tan-morocco-backed marbled board drop-front box, additional portfolio with series of progressives showing the stages in the hand-stencil colouring of a single plate (no.6), together with guide-sheets and stencils, proofs, negatives, prospectus etc., loose in folders in original tan-morocco portfolio with morocco ties, folio, Trianon Press, 1972.

⁂ One of the grandest of the Trianon Blake facsimiles, reproducing some of Blake's finest watercolours. Blake dedicated the watercolours to Ann Flaxman who hid them to protect Blake from the authorities due to their republican overtones but they came into Paul Mellon's possession in the mid-20th century. The reproduction was a mammoth undertaking, employing eighteen artists for four years and using up to forty-two stencils per plate.
