Two 17thC wooden sculptures, possibly Southern Netherlands, one a matching base, H - 21,6cm (without base) - 29,5 cm (with base)
One depicting the Holy Anna and the Holy Virgin as a child, boxwood, the other one figuring a female saint with a book (the Holy Anna?), limewood
Condition: - apart from the remarks below, in our opinion both items in acceptable to good condition
- most probably both sculptures were originally polychrome painted but stripped during the 1960s
- the boxwood sculpture with some (negligible) bursts, and missing the halo (see the hole at the reverse of the head)
- the limewood sculpture show some woodworm holes
- in our opinion, the limewood base was surcarved
