Both worked in the Irish stitch in crewel wool. The smaller pocket with stitched initials ER and a note inscribed directly on the interior sleeve Made by Elizabeth Rhoads who married Thomas Smedley of Upper Providence, 6-20-1776; and another note inscribed on paper Made by Elizabeth Rhoads of Marple, who married Thomas Smedley in 1776. / Deposited by Gilbert Cope.
The smaller pocket Height 4 3/8 in. by Width 7 in.

In overall very fine condition. The larger pocket with minor wear to the pile on the front flap.
