both by Sadie Irvine; the first, high-glaze, 1909, decorated with sprouting spring buds in blue, green and white underglaze; the second, matte-glaze, 1932, decorated with stylized wild rice in blue, green and white underglaze, bottom with original Newcomb sales label.
Each vase base marked with Newcomb cipher, decorator's mark, the first vase with Joseph Meyer's potter's mark, reg. no. "CY86" and shape no. "318"; the second vase with Kenneth Smith's potter's mark and reg. no. "UB34".

Provenance: Collection of Allain Bush, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition Report: **The high-glaze vase with chip to underside of foot rim and crazing to glaze. The matte-glaze vase with tiny nick to surface glaze and small 1/16" scratch to body; the inside and outside of vase with light crazing and surface soiling. Both in overall good condition.
