probably German, late 15th/early 16th century, socket with two rectangular apertures, doughnut and discoid knop shaft on conical center base with stepped rings and two stage drip pan, 6-1/8 x 4-7/8 in.; late 16th/17th century, socket with two circular apertures, central dome over a mid drip pan, bell form base, 6-3/4 x 5-1/4 in. - Provenance: Christie's, London, from "The Lear Collection", Lot 18, sold December 15, 1998 for œ4,025 (example with knopped shaft); Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey
