including a pair of Biedermeier parcel-ebonized maple side chairs, first half 19th century, each with a concave back with vertical splat, round seat and flare legs, h. 30", and a pair of Biedermeier-style fruitwood armchairs, the barrel-back chairs with spindles, the arms with scroll ends and flare legs, h. 30-1/8".
Condition Report: All chairs tight and sturdy with no movement observed in legs, seat rails or arms. The upholstery in very good condition. The maple chairs exhibit marks, abrasions and repairs consistent with age and use, including shrinkage lines, filler and veneer repairs. The armchairs with minor wear and shrinkage. Repairs to the joints of front legs and seat rail on one chair, now tight.
