U. S. N. Academy - ephemera, Nimitz class of 1905

UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY, Annapolis, Md.

A social event [a dance?] is announced in a 2pp. satirical flier, page 2 ‘The Class of 1905, regrets to have to announce …. the death of Math and Skinny’, dated ‘January 26th, 1905’, but noting that the event [or ‘funeral ceremonies’] will be held ‘January 28, 1905, at 8 p.m., in the Armory’ , a bi-folium, the announcement preceded by a full-page caricature showing the devil [aka ‘Math’] putting Midshipman through a ‘patent-applied-for’ ‘Carnot’s Reversible Function Bilger’. [No place but Annapolis, Md.:] 1905. Small folio, bifolium (12 ½ x 9 ½ inches; 317 x 242mm). (Folded, and with small tears), spot-glued to a large backing sheet.

A rare ephemeral item from the Annapolis Class of 1905: a celebration of the end of the first academic term. Admiral Nimitz was a graduate of the Class of 1905. NB the matt in the first image is not part of the lot.
