US 1831 Dated M1816 E. WHITNEY Flintlock Musket

U. S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket. Lock signed, "NEW HAVEN 1831" and "E, WHITNEY" with crossed arrow, olive branch and "US", original flintlock configuration with brass pan. Walnut stock with two faint inspection cartouches, three steel bands, trigger assembly , butt plate, sling swivels and ramrod. Barrel with "G V" eagle proofs tang dated "1831". Excellent original condition: strong main spring with two stops, steel with dark patina, attractive stock with patina and scattered handling marks. Musket measures 57.5" L.
