US COLT MODEL 1911 PISTOL (1918)

SERIAL 467873. BARREL 5". CALIBER .45 ACP. Factory letter states that this pistol was part of a shipment of 20,000 guns to the US Government at Bush Terminal in Brooklyn on October 3, 1918. It is a standard US issue with correct parts of that era to include; checkered wide spur hammer, type 2 rear sight with beveled edge and u- notch, long smooth trigger, checkered slide stop & safety, flat main spring housing with lanyard loop and diamond checker walnut grips. The barrel is later replacement. It comes with an era correct two tone plain base tempered magazine. The grips have an added coat of finish and show usual wear. Metal retains about 75% smooth arsenal re-applied blue finish with balance a soft gray patina. Eagle inspector stamp on left side of frame along with United States Property. Right side of slide has the Model of 1911 US Army stamp. The bore is excellent. Accompanying this pistol is a 1914 dated RIA cavalry swivel holster, a WWII Warren Leather goods holster, a period leather unmarked shoulder holster, a braided leather lanyard and a canvas 1942 dated magazine pouch with two full blue magazines This pistol is attributed to use in both WWI & II to John Oiler and son.
