US MODEL 1861 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE

NSN. BARREL 40". CALIBER .58 PERCUSSION. Standard Civil War issue rifle finished in the white, three band, post front sight, two leaf folding rear sight (one leaf broken) full length walnut stock with two visible but not readable cartouche stamps on left side. Wood has some added finish. Metal is dull gray with some scattered age freckles. Lock has the US Springfield stamp with Eagle. Date is only partially readable "18??) Rifling is extremely sharp with minor abrasion. Nipple looks like replacement. Nice and clean lightly used Civil War Rifle. A
