Winchester model 1873 model 73 saddle rifle - cal . 44-40 - year 1880: Length: 98 cm, barrel 50 cm. This is the famous Winchester saddle rifle in the most popular . 44/40 caliber. This is a second model made in 1880 (small serial number) . The markings are clearly visible (except the caliber) . Round barrel patinated and marked on the upper plan on two lines: "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CT. / KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860". Markings of the number "43412" and the model "Model 1873" clearly visible. Bronze case with barely visible "Cal. 44" marking. Rifle in good original condition, tan still present turning to tobacco. Mechanism in good condition, complete and functional, very firm springs. Barrel with clearly visible scratches. Wood in good condition (sound) with signs of use (a knock on the butt) . Half-moon iron butt plate with reserve for the ramrod (absent) . NB: the upper dust cover is no longer present, some screws are recent (fixing of the 2 barrel rings) .
