Unmarked J.A. Coxe Reel

A hard rubber and German silver reel that was featured in the Winter 2000 issue of the Reel News (More on the G.U.R. - The Great Unknown Reel - pg. 17), the publication of the Old Reel Collectors Association. In the article, author Steve Vernon points out a few of the features found on this example, such as the pin-style pop out anti-reverse on the head plate, the free-spool clutch found on the tail plate side, activated by a knurled edge button, and the drag handle that has been compared to a Rabbeth drag. Measuring 3" in diameter with a 2 7/8" wide spool, this reel is in VG/VG+ with excellent mechanics and just a few surface scratches, with a short foot that is off-set.
