19th century mahogany knife box having a domed lid with acorn finial, carved foliate crown and gadrooned rim lifting to reveal fitted interior; upper body draped with bellflower garlands and wreaths with ribbons, lower body ringed with a ribbed and fluted border, turned support on circular foot having a carved rim, square plinth, knife box mounted on a later square pedestal with decorative molded trim on front and sides; overall 64 1/2"H, knife box 29 1/4"H, pedestal 18" x 18"; repair to acorn finial (Ref. 9)
