VIKING RUNIC RING 9TH-10TH CENTURY SZ 8
Bronze, size 8 with narrow (1.7mm) band flaring to the shoulders. Oval bezel with hand inscribed border enclosing a cluster of runes. Probably a signet used to seal the owner’s name. Vikings used runic and Latin alphabets, the later particularly in sword inlays and inscriptions. Textured from burial with the 24karat gold surface restored.
