Seljuq vase the whole covered in an opaque turquoise glaze, various chips, some repaired, Gorgan, 12th century. During the Medieval period, Persia was the centre of production of fine Islamic ceramic. Persian Islamic artisans created magnificent ceramic objects, not only for local market, but, also for export to other parts of the Islamic world. Persian ceramic was known for its beauty and highly appreciated across the vast Muslim lands. Provenance: Galery Anavian, Tehran bought in 1972.
