Signature: Signed tachi mei: “Minatogawa Jinja Masataka” with Kikusui mon, and on the reverse: “April 1942, Vice Admiral Nagumo.”

Size: Nagasa: 66.3 cm. Sori: 1.5 cm. Moto-haba: 3.1 cm. Saki-haba: 2.1 cm. Moto-gasane: 0.7 cm. Saki-gasane: 0.4 cm.

This is a Very rare Japanese MINATOGAWA katana sword in shirasaya. Signed tachi mei: “Minatogawa Jinja Masataka” with Kikusui mon, and on the reverse: “April 1942, Vice Admiral Nagumo.” In good polish, minor surface scratches. Guaranteed against hagire. The blade is signed “Minatogawa Jinja Masataka with Kikusui mon, dated “Showa Juroku-nen Jugatsu hi ( April. 1942), shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Masataka`s real name is Moriwaki Kaname, was born in Dec.,1911 in Tottori prefecture, study under Kajiyama Yasunori, Ikeda Yasumitsu at The Yasukuni Nihonto Tanrenkai, in 1940 he received an appointment as a head instructor, for the Kikusui Tanrenkai located on the ground of Minatogawa shrine, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed in John Slough’s book page 104, 105. The blade is traditional hand forged, in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in very good condition. The temper line is attractive gunome-choji with kinsuji active temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. Nagasa: 66.3 cm.
