~ Victorian 9ct Yellow Gold Moonstone & Turquoise Brooch ~
A gorgeous brooch of moonstone mounted with twelve small round-cut turquoise stones and set in 9ct gold.
The brooch consists of an oval –cut piece of moonstone which is framed in ornate gold.
Upon the moonstone is a delicate foliate pattern of gold studded with the turquoise stones to highlight the flowers and leaves.
The reverse is fitted with a pin clasp.
The gold is not hallmarked but has been acid tested positive as 9ct gold.
We think it is an early Victorian piece
~ Dimensions ~
The turquoise stone measure between 0.01 carats and 0.02 carats (1mm – 1.5mm diameter) each.
The moonstone measures 3.7cm by 2.8cm.
The brooch measures 4.7cm by 3.7cm and weighs 13.2g.
~ Condition ~
The brooch is in a great condition for its age. The moonstone is undamaged and the gold has very little wear. One of the turquoise stones is missing but this does not affect the overall beauty of the brooch.
