An antique Gothic style mourning dress gown and coat. Black fabric with jet black bead embellishments throughout, extending onto the lace. It includes a black sleeveless dress with a long ruffled skirt, adorned with ribbons, accompanied by a lace and beaded vest, as well as a matching cape. Dress measures approximately 47" long. No apparent makers mark. Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 3125 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III.
