Vietnam War Photographs Taken in the Field, 1966-1968

Lot of 5 silver gelatin photographs, each approx. 15.5 x 19.25 in., on 20 x 24 in. board, with verso typed label that includes description and photographer's credit. Each image is credited to a member of the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO), which produced some of the most unique and revealing images of the Vietnam War. Photographers / scenes include:

PFC Richard S. Durrance. July 18-19, 1967. "Elements of the 2nd Sqdn, Section C, Btry E, 41st Arty Regt, I Field Forces (IFFV) and the 1st Flt, Btry C, 60th Arty Regt, IFFV, undertake support missions for elements of Co D, 1st Bn, 7th Cav Regt, 1st Cav Div (Airmobile) during Operation 'Pershing', of search and destroy mission conducted in the An Lao Valley located in Binh dinh province...A squad of 50 machine gun is fired from LZ 'Willy' at the entrance to the An Lao Valley to discourage the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops from entering or leaving the valley."

PFC Carl C. Hanson. Operation "Muscatine." January 22-23, 1968. Captioned below, "Members of Co. B, 1st Bn, 14th Inf, 3rd Bde, 4th Inf Div, cross a stone bridge during the search and destroy operation conducted in the Quang-Ngai Province, 18 miles south of Chu Lai."

PFC Wendell D. Garrett. Mobile Advisory Team. August 25-September 1, 1867. Taken in Fhung Bam, Vietnam, and captioned, "SPC Le Master, 11th Armored Cav., and his squad wade through flood water during a search and destroy mission."

SP5 Robert C. Lafoon. Operation "Rang Dong." November 21, 1967. Captioned below, "SGT Richard P. White (Burmingham, Iowa), Squad Ldr, Co. 'C,' 3rd Bn, 7th Inf, 199th Light Inf Bde, crosses a chest high irrigation canal enroute to a Viet Cong controlled village."

SSG Gerhart L. Meyers. February 19, 1966. "A Gun crew of the 6th Gun Section, Btry C, 77th Arty, 1st Cav. Div (Airmobile) fires against the Viet Cong in the Bong Son District, during Operation 'White Wing.'"
Condition Report: Few slightly lifting from board. Lafoon photo with some areas of minor surface loss, including lower left corner and top right and left corners.
