Volkswagen - Golf GTI Mk1 "NO RESERVE" - 1980

[ translate ]

This Golf GTI Mk1 is the 1980 model and is completely original; it has never been elaborated. It’s the 5-speed 1600 cc version. It was sold in 1980 in Venice and since 2001 it has been standing still in the garage suspended from circulation, as the documents report. Mileage is probably original. Exterior colour, interior, engine and gearbox are original (matching numbers) as they came out of the factory. The Volkswagen certificate confirming the original colour L041 (Black) with black and grey interior is present. In March, many works were carried out, documented with photos and invoices, including: - restoration of door panels, parcel shelf, interior, new stickers and body parts, engine compartment insulation; - restoration of petrol lines and power circuit, new pump and filters; - new Pirelli tyres; - fully new exhaust; - new water pump with new distribution; - new petrol tank; - complete overhaul of K-Jetronic injection; - new speedometer cable; - handbrake overhaul with lever and cables; - tyre alignment (wheel alignment) ; - new windscreen with new seal; The car is running and the engine compression test delivered very good results (see pictures) . The structure of the car is solid and still features the original sheet metal. It has never suffered any accidents; the original factory mastic and the original underbody and wheel arch colour are still present on the vehicle (see pictures on the bridge) . The body was newly repainted on the outside a few years ago and still looks nice. It was evaluated with feeler gauge (see pictures) that delivered very good results. The manufacturing detail sticker is in the trunk compartment and also in the use and maintenance manual. These Golf MK1s are now a true collector's item and it is increasingly difficult to find raw original specimens. The Volkswagen Museum has issued the technical features certificate for re-registration (please see photos) . Please note: electrical system to be checked in some areas. Bidders are welcome to view and test the vehicle. It is located in Quarrata 51039, PT, Italy. Please send a message to Catawiki for an appointment. We will take care of the transfer of ownership remotely or of the export documents. Shipping throughout Italy, Europe and the rest of the world at low rates.
