WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 RIFLE
SERIAL 124332. BARREL 24" CALIBER 38-40. MADE IN 1883. Standard rifle in all respects features full round barrel , full magazine, semi-buckhorn rear sight, blade front sight, walnut stocks, rifle butt. There is no original metal finish remaining and is now an overall soft gray patina. Barrel legends are sharp with exception to caliber which is light. Left side frame has one replaced screw. Dust cover missing screw so does not ride and is fairly pitted (would replace this part as balance of metal is clean and mostly devoid of an serious pitting. ) The wood is a bit shy to metal so was redone long ago and does have usual minor dings but nice appearance. The bore has some pretty good strong rifling with usual abrasion areas but should shoot well with proper diameter lead bullets. Action seems to work once you get dust cover working but will need some tinkering. With a little work, you will have a nice original old 73 that would make a good shooter. A.
