WWII JAPANESE ARISAKA TYPE 38 6.5mm BOLT ACTION
SN 38135. 33" barrel bolt action 6.5mm rifle. Japanese Arisaka Type 38 in Long Rifle configuration. Has had the Chrysanthemum ground off at the receiver, but retains original Japanese kanji characters on receiver. Bolt has been turned down and reworked with a United Shoe Machinery Corporation bolt handle -- these were initially made for replacement bolts on the US M1917. As a result there is braising and roughness on the original Arisaka bolt and a rough gouge to allow the down turned bolt to seat properly. There are 4 holes drilled on the left side of the receiver for a scope mount, and original front sight, tangent rear sight, bayonet lug, sling swivels and bands. Action is excellent, bore very good with minimal service wear, and finish is approximately 85% with wear and loss of finish to the action and service wear at the stock as well as the modifications.
