WWII PROPAGANDA BOOK 'GERMANY THE OLYMPIC YEAR 1936'

[ translate ]

WWII propaganda publication 'Germany - The Olympic Year 1936'. Published by Volk und Reich Verlag, Berlin, English text, approx. 92 pages, 9.258.75 in., heavily illustrated throughout. Heavily propagandist book welcoming international visitors to post-WWI Germany and host of the 1936 Olympic Games, 'Peace and Goodwill...have created a contented Germany....the Olympic Ideal of Peace and Happiness.' A few pages later there are photos of the Nuremberg rally and storm troopers marching through the streets, the bustling industries of Germany, and the national socialist Zeitgeist is on full display. The last caption, wedged between a photo of three SS troopers carrying the Adolf Hitler standard in front of the monumental Nuremberg eagle and a photo of German Wehrmacht soldiers, the visitor learns 'German work of reconstruction cannot be carried out in time of War...political soldiers are a bulwark against internal unrest, whilst military units are Germany's best guarantee for a national peace and protection against the Bolshevic [sic] world revolution.' The very last page shows a stern portrait of Adolf Hitler 'The Leader and Liberator'. Binding a little loose, bumped corners, toning at the edges, short inscription 'Greetings from A v. H' on flyleaf, else very good.
