WWII RAF photograph album
A WWII photograph album compiled by RAF Cpl Douglas Peter Davidson, no. 916394 (53 Repair Unit) (b.22 May 1917 - d.Feb. 1984)
circa 1945
the album of approximately 189 black and white photographs documenting naval/air force personnel, views of the Far East and his wife (also R.A.F.) including large group photos and an identity card. Sold together with a typed letter describing Cpl Davidson's journey from England to an intended final destination of Okinawa, which included stop-overs in Panama, Hawaii and Enewetok before a final diversion to Hong Kong after hearing of the capitulation of the Japanese forces. The photographs in this album therefore presumably document that journey and his final destination. The letter also describes disarming "Sons of the Heaven" and that many started working for the British as prisoners of war. Sold together with brief ancestry papers for both Mr and Mrs Davidson and a copy of the AWATEA News.
