War shield - Wood Reed - Watutsi - Rwanda - 84cm

Very rare war shield of the Watutsi - Rwanda These Tutsi shields are almost impossible to find anymore. Actually belongs in a museum, rightfully a museum-worthy piece . . moreover in good condition. Even Tervuren has only one. Dimensions: Length 84cm. Width 36 cm. It is an old shield, the age is estimated at the beginning of the last century, around 1910 - 1920. With the typical central ram button in the middle. I came across it in this old collection. The original collectors were a Belgian inspector (pictured in the sedan chair) and his wife, Marie-Louise, who was a teacher. They were both stationed in Leopoldville. in the period from 1948 to 1960, see the year on the back of the photo of her "avec les Boy's" their staff.
