Wedgwood factory worker WW1 plaque: Black & white Jasperware...
Wedgwood factory worker WW1 plaque: Black & white Jasperware plaque produced by the factory for Workers that fought in The Great War, Private F Halfpenny North Staffs Regiment.
Halfpenny does not actually appear on the Wedgwood Roll of Honour. This is because he appears in a list of Wedgwood Soldiers who did not have pre-war engagement. Basically, he joined the company very late in 1918, or during 1919. All the men that were employed by Wedgwood prior to the outbreak of the war, up until 1918, including those killed, appear on the Roll of Honor. However, keen not to exclude anyone when these plaques were produced a few years later, they made plaques for old and new employees so long as they served. Mounted in oak frame.
