A photograph signed by Nobel Prize-winning German physicist Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976), as "Werner Heisenberg" along the bottom margin. The vintage black and white photo on matte Leonar photo paper shows a bust portrait of the acclaimed scientist. Pencil-inscribed with serial numbers and stamped "Tita Binz / 8 München 22 / Schackstr. 1" verso, indicating the photography studio of Tita Binz (1903-1970), the well-known female German portrait photographer who operated in Mannheim, West Germany between 1949-1970. Near fine. 4.25" x 6.25."

Werner Heisenberg won the 1932 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions to the discovery and study of quantum mechanics. Insatiably curious, Heisenberg also investigated solar energy, the behavior of fluids and gases, magnetism, and atomic nuclei. Heisenberg worked on the German nuclear weapons program during World War II.
