Hard boards, original publisher's green cloth with gold lettering on spine; 5" x 8.1/4"; ink inscription on the front endpaper is dated Feb 1940; 272 pages including Index; 45 photographs, a little wear and a little foxing, the large fold-out map [26" x 16"] in rear is in fine condition; very good condition.

This book is a record and deep appreciation in a life spent among the old country harmonies in a region quintessentially English. It is also a record of a day-to-day country life-farming, craftmanship, customs and traditions prior to the WWII.

The book is written in form of a monthly diary. Margaret Westerling describes her travels from her native Ford, North Cotswolds through the country around and beyond Gloucestershire.
