Western European Baroque brass Tower-style inkwell

A Western European Baroque brass Tower-style inkwell, punch signed 'B' beneath foot. The tower is cast and file-finished, inset cast design elements with a charming sea creature in the lid. Lots of room around the tower for pens, seals, wax and powder. Base is about 6 5/8 in (17 cm) square, the height about 4 ½ in (11.5 cm). Brought from Europe after WWII, it was later carefully cleaned and placed within a curio where it has remained for decades. Ex venerable San Fernando Valley private collection.
