Imandt is known for his beautiful Indonesian landscapes, just as his contemporaries Leo Eland (1884-1952), Carel Lodewijk Dake jr. (1886-1946), Gerard Pieter Adolfs (1897-1968) and Ernest Dézentjé (1884-1972). Imandt differs from these by his use of strong pastel colourite. His exquisite mastery of aerial perspective is shown in this work, by its infinite rocky coastal line.
