Signer of the Declaration of Independence and a US representative from New York (1734–1821). Scarce ADS, signed “Wm. Floyd,” one page, 8 x 7.75, March 15, 1785. A secondary receipt of payment, in full: "I Do hereby certify that I Rec'd from Col'o Phineas Fanning by the hand of Mr. William Phillip the Sum of Fifty pounds, and for which Sum I obligated myself for payment the obligation was dated in May or June 1781 which obligation the said Phineas Fanning says he has lost—Therefore this Certificate shall be Considered in Stead of the Obligation said to be lost—and his Receipt on the back of this signed with his own hand, shall cancell both." Signed at the conclusion by William Floyd. In fine condition.
