mizuya - Keyaki hardwood - High quality, rare large & fully functional cabinet, with thick original hardware - Japan - Bakumatsu Period (1853 - 1867)
Exceptional high quality and rare large keyaki-wood kitchen cabinet (mizuya.) The fact that the frame, drawers and doors panels and the structure of this cabinet are all made of massive keyaki-zelkova wood puts this piece in a different level ! This precious hardwood used in Japan was only applied for high quality purposes. This cabinet has a beautiful original patina and grain and must have been very expensive to make when it was created more then 150 years ago (Bakumatsu period) . The original hardware is also thick and of high quality. The cabinet comes in two sections, above: two sliding doors; below: six small drawers behind the sliding doors and four drawers. Fully functional without keys. In very nice original condition with some minor traces of use. When shipped we will add a Certificate of Authenticity.
