(t) CHINA. China - Great Britain. Voyage of the Junk "Keying" Gilt Brass Medal, 1848. PCGS MS-63.

BHM-2324. By T. Halliday. Obverse: View of the junk Keying under sail left; Reverse: Three line inscription, all within circular legend. PCGS pop: 2; none finer. A handsome Choice example of this sought-after medal. Its smooth, bold brassy surfaces deepen into fiery reds within the recesses, accentuating the devices and enhancing its overall eye appeal. The details are finely preserved, and there is virtually no evidence of handling. Struck to commemorate the first Chinese junk--the Keying--to sail from Hong Kong to Great Britain. The voyage lasted 477 days.

Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
