This antique Victorian brooch is made of 585 = 14 kt yellow gold. Since it is not stamped, I have given it to the master goldsmith for expert inspection and he has confirmed that the brooch in front is made of 14 kt gold, only the back cover is made of foam gold (gold doublé) . It has a large, oval basic shape and is set with a bright oval Calzedon plate with a finely polished surface. This is held by a flower with a small Verneuil ruby. The Calzedon is surrounded by a wide mirror edge with muffled finishes and ornamental decorations. On the back is the original, antique long needle with needle block and needle hook attached.
