Ordre de paiement à McGill, de 15 livres, qu'il doit payer à Charles-Simon Delorme pour la construction de " fish benches ", fait le 22 novembre 1808 pour le nouveau marché public. Approuvé par John Reid, greffier de la Cour du banc du roi à Montréal et Jean-Marie Mondelet, commissaire chargé de la construction d'une halle pour "The City of Montreal". James McGill (1744-1813), marchand de fourrures, homme d affaires et philanthrope, fondateur de l Université McGill. Il reçut sa première charge publique, celle de Juge de paix, en 1776. On renouvela son mandat périodiquement, et c'est ainsi qu'il fut initié au gouvernement de Montréal, une fonction réservée aux juges de paix jusqu'en 1833. C'est probablement dans ce contexte qu'il s'est occupé du paiement de travaux publics à Montréal qui font l'objet du présent document. En 1810, il deviendra colonel commandant du 1er bataillon de milice de la ville de Montréal. Charles-Simon Delorme (1769-1837) était un menuisier, charpentier, entrepreneur de construction et propriétaire foncier montréalais. Outre la construction de résidences luxueuses à Montréal, Delorme fut aussi mêlé à la mise en chantier d'édifices civils et religieux dans cette ville. 1 sheet 8vo. recto verso. Approved by John Reid, Clerk of the Court of King's Bench in Montreal and Jean-Marie Mondelet, Commissioner responsible for the construction of a hall for "The City of Montreal". James McGill (1744-1813), fur trader, businessman and philanthropist, founder of McGill University. He received his first public office, that of Justice of the Peace, in 1776. His mandate was renewed periodically, and so he was introduced to the Government of Montreal, a function reserved for justices of the peace until 1833. It is probably in this context that he dealt with the payment of public works in Montreal which are the subject of this document. In 1810, he became colonel commander of the 1st militia battalion of the City of Montreal.
