Very Good hard cover. Contemporary vellum over boards with vellum and metal clasps at fore edge; hand written title of first work on front cover; all edges red sprinkled. Two series of fine copperplate engravings, 57 in all. Frontis/title page and 39 full page plates in first work; frontis/title page and 16 full page plates in second work. All leaves are printed recto only, engravings with limited engraved text in cartouche - no printed text pages. Sancti has 38 portraits and 1 plate showing St. Peter surrounded by angels, popes, prelates. Apostolorum has 16 portraits of 20 - lacking Jesus, Mary, Joseph and John the Evangelist. Covers and spine are in very good condition with some age darkening and light soiling; vellum remains supple; tightly bound; former bookseller's description on paper pasted to front pastedown; 3 small stamps on 2 leaves; all engravings are strong, clear impressions; Sancti generally bright and clean interior but for some age darkening at gutter; Apostolorum has some foxing on frontis/title page and limited damp staining at fore edge of few leaves light yellow water coloring on title page garland (see photo). 19 x 14 cm.
