13¾” overall, slightly swamped barrel 8½” with beaded baluster at the breech and early B’ham proofs; slightly rounded lock with unbridled frizzen, engraved with simple scrolls and signed “Turner” at a later date; walnut full stock with shell carving around the breech tang, and brass mounts including domed buttcap, flower engraved trigger guard with acorn finial, engraved openwork ribbon sideplate, and with horn tipped ramrod. By (Robert) Wheeler, c 1800, 12½” overall, barrels 6¾”, with Tower private proofs, 6” spring bayonets beneath the barrels released by sliding trigger guards, and with ramrod ramps on left side with ivory tipped whale bone ramrods with worms; the frames engraved with trophies and garter star and signed in foliate elliptical panels; plain walnut slab butts with oval silver escutcheons, one of the butts stamped with numbers “59” and “208”.
