Oil on canvas, Size of canvas 61,5x72,5 cm. In a gilded frame. The present painting depicts a gathering of animals around the famous Medici vase, until the 18th century in the villa of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany at the Pincio in Roma. The painting is closely related to Stefano Della Bella's etching, as shown by the presence of the obelisk in the background (see picture). However, for this painting, De Coninck preferred a three-quarter view. See Details »

These paintings show two northern landscapes with travellers in the manner of Richard Wilson, one of the greatest English landscape painters. The compositions combine a mood of classical serenity with picturesque effects, and some references to the French artist Claude Lorrain. See Details »

Dated: 1898 (inscribed on the bronze). Height: 27 cm. Width: 40 cm. Depth: 35 cm. A rectangular jewelry box in Louis XVI style, surmounted by a cherub-form handle. It includes a beautiful key to lock it.
The eight hand-painted porcelain plaques are from Sèvres, depicting 18th-century courtship scenes. The face of the box shows caryatid pilasters. See Details »

Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814) - Bacchanalia
2nd half of the 18th century. Bronze. 60 cm high, 28 cm diameter. Inscribed on base: Clodion. This dynamic sculptural group is formed of a pair of dancers with a tambourine (bacchante) and a satyr at their feet, twisting and twirling in a celebration of dance. The Bacchanalia were Roman festivals of Bacchus, the Greco-Roman god of wine, freedom and ecstasy. This bronze is remarkable for its beauty and details and it shows how Clodion was deeply influenced by Bernini. See Details »

Initially, Welker was a student of J.C.E. Müller (1766-1824) in Weimar, then at the Vienna Academy from 1804 to 1808. In 1821 he went to Rome, where he remained until 1828 and returned to Vienna in 1828. Welker created landscapes and architectural views from the surroundings of Vienna, Salzburg, Styria, Carinthia, Switzerland and Italy. See Details »

This is an extremely rare, original map of the northern and southern skies of Frederick de Wit, published by Covens & Mortier, circa 1721. Remarks: This large-format sky map was designed by Frederick de Wit and is based on the two hemispheres depicted on Willem Blaeu's monumental 1648 world map Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis Tabula. (Shirley 371) The two hemispheres of the de Wit map, which are decorated with elaborate figurative constellations and other astronomical details, each have a diameter of 34 cm and are supplemented by six diagrams.
