The Jewels of Geneva - Geneva International Motor Show 2019

Sat Mar 16 2019

LOT-ART visited for you the 89th Geneva International Motor Show, which takes place from March 7 to17, 2019 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. The GIMS (Salon international de l'automobile) is the annual showroom for the newest models of supercar, hypercar and concept cars from the world’s best-known and emerging brands like Ferrari, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce and many others. In addition to presenting unusual designs and the latest available features, the GIMS also showcases a wide range of energy-efficient vehicles on offer, promising low fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.

Bugatti Voiture Noire: World's Most Expensive Car

Bugatti is famous for producing superior sports cars: and the new Bugatti La Voiture Noire pushes even more boundaries, costing €11 million (£9.5m), and that’s before local taxes. Based upon the running gear of a Chiron, ‘The Black Car’ reflects how the French hypercar brand is branching out into more bespoke, personalized manufacturing to satisfy the ambitious minds of the world’s most powerful and imaginative car collectors. As the Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann comments: "Coachbuilding is synonymous with uniqueness; custom-tailored cars for individual tastes."

Jaguar I-Pace wins the title “Car of the Year 2019”

The “Car of the Year” trophy is considered as the most prestigious and coveted award in the automobile world. Currently, 60 journalists from 23 countries are members of the jury. The Car of the Year was created by STERN and it has been awarded since 1964. The winner of the "Car of the Year" Award 2019 is the Jaguar I-Pace. The Jaguar brand won the coveted award for the first time. In addition to innovation and safety, the decisive criteria for the title are design and value for money.

GIMS President Maurice Turrettini says: "We recognise that the Geneva Motor Show needs to continue bringing together automotive industry players to foster ongoing innovation. However, it's just as important to promote and present the technological innovations essential for developing all forms of mobility".

Lamborghini unveils the Huracan Evo and the Aventador SVJ Roadster

The Huracán EVO represents the natural evolution of the most successful V10 in Lamborghini history. It is the result of fine-tuning and consolidation combined with the development of new solutions in terms of efficiency and design. A state-of-the-art control system and innovative touchscreen easily manage the car’s functions and entertainment system. This, combined with dazzling aerodynamic design, elevate the performance and driving emotions to unprecedented levels. The design of the Huracán EVO does not present a radical change in the original iconic shape and proportions, rather it represents a natural evolution that introduces sophisticated aerodynamic solutions, while remaining faithful to the iconic Lamborghini design.

There’s only one adjective to describe SVJ Roadster: unrivaled. Produced in just 800 units, and with a price tag of about 600,000 USD, it is the most iconic model of the Aventador family, thanks to its aerodynamic lines that slice through the air, and its breathtaking design, the expression of the most refined Italian taste and craftsmanship.  The signature 6.5-litre V12 770CV Lamborghini can propel its driver to an unearthly 0-100kmph time of 2.9 seconds reaching an overwhealming speed of 350 km/h. Sophistication, aggressiveness, lightness, and aeronautics-inspired aerodynamics. The beauty, power, and performance of the SVJ Roadster are guaranteed by ultra-light materials. The body features air intakes larger than any previous model, more extended side skirts, accentuated aerodynamic profiles, and a lighter and higher-mounted exhaust system.
