An Ottoman gold-damascened yatagan with silver scabbard, dated 1790
Typically curved single-edged blade with narrow fuller on both sides and fullered along the back. Both sides richly decorated with a silver inlaid inscription featuring the name of the Seven Sleepers. On the obverse tughra with date "1205" (= 1790) and text "work of Osman Haci, owner Ibrahim". Iron ferrule and grip straps richly decorated with gold-damascened arabesques. Grip panels of walrus ivory with distinctive ears. Wood-lined scabbard of sheet silver with embossed ornaments. The chape terminating in a dragon's head. Length 79 cm, weight of the scabbard 640 g.
