10 Kt Yellow - Brooch, Pendant, Victorian Gemme cameo Queen Conch Shell / Deep Sea Shell

Exquisite antique cameo, carved circa 1880. The cameo depicts a lady in profile. The leaves and grapes in the hair point towards a bacchante from the followers of Bacchus. The large cameo is very finely and lovingly carved in detail: the beauty has classy curls, fruit in the hair and a pearl necklace on the neckline. The cameo's design is in pronounced, deep relief. It is carved from a rare pink-white deep sea shell: Queen conch shell, a fine souvenir of its time from the Caribbean. The valuable, hand-carved cameo is embedded in a frame made of 10 kt gold. The frame is decorated with engravings. The piece of jewellery is of English origin (Victorian age) . The 10K hallmark is difficult to make out on the fastening mechanism. I found a comparative piece, which has a 10K mark in exactly the same place. The cameo is in an excellent condition! ! ! Length 50 mm, width 40 mm, thickness 13 mm Weight: 20. 8 grams.
