10th C. Islamic Nishapur Glazed Pottery Jar

Near East, Persia, Nishapur, ca. late 10th century to early 13th century CE. A stunning pottery jar displaying a narrow base and impressively thin walls that flare outwards to a wide, rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon an applied discoid foot. A set of 3 ribbon-form handles elegantly rise from the shoulder. Beautiful remains of turquoise, olive, and cream-colored glazes decorate the exterior, with a dazzling splattering of silvery and rainbow iridescence complementing the ancient vessel's graceful form. Size: 7.5" in diameter x 9" H (19 cm x 22.9 cm)

Condition Report: Chips to rim and base. Repair and restoration to neck and rim. Resurfacing to bases of handles. Some abrasions and losses to glaze and incised pattern. Otherwise, very nice with beautiful iridescence.
