12th C. Korean Koryo Celadon Pottery Vessel

East Asia, Korea, Kingdom of Goryeo (Koryo), ca. 12th century CE. A beautiful Goryeo Dynasty celadon glazed pottery vessel of a characteristically simple yet elegant form comprised of a broad rounded body with a defined rim and a flat base. The celadon glaze on this example casts a golden brown hue. A lovely example. Size: 9.375" in diameter x 4.5" H (23.8 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: Estate of William Stockton, Colorado, USA; acquired between July 20, 1966 and January 7, 1974 while Mr. Stockton was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. During this period he traveled primarily to Korea, but also to Japan, Vietnam, and other countries in Southeast Asia.
